The graduate students in the EEOB program are scientists, but we are also future leaders of the community. With this in mind, we all share an enthusiasm for raising the public's "science literacy". We believe in education as the essential key to a brighter future, and with your help, we want to reach out to this ideal.
Our graduate students are enthusiastic about reaching out to the public and sharing their passions for science. We are happy to talk to students K-12, science teachers, district science coordinators, and anyone else who shares our love of exploration and scientific inquiry.
What kind of outreach do you do?
Presentations
We offer a variety of presentations, both for students and teachers. We can customize our talks for your specific program, or you can choose form such topics as:
The scientific method
Statistics in science and our lives
Going to college
Graduate students' research
How to teach science
Consultations
We offer consultations for students, parents, and teachers for science fair project ideas.
Mentorships
Our graduate students are eager to offer mentorship to students who are interested in research and sciences. You can contact us with specific interests and we will pair you or your student with a graduate student whose research fits with yours.
Science Fair Judging
Perhaps the most fun outreach activities for us - we are always excited to judge science fairs, whether at the school-wide or district-wide level, for all grade levels. We offer helpful commentary and encouragement!
