Admissions requirements include a B.A. or B.S. degree in Biology or a related discipline. Majors in other scientific fields are acceptable if basic preparation in biology, chemistry (organic and inorganic), physics, and mathematics are deemed adequate. This should include calculus, inorganic and organic chemistry, and physics.
Prospective graduate students should contact faculty members with interests similar to their own early in the application process. Admission is unlikely without identification of, and prior communication with, a faculty member participating in the EEOB graduate program who can act as a prospective major advisor.
The EEOB program is no longer requiring the GRE for admission into either the MS or PhD.
GRE scores will not be taken into account for admission decisions.
Unofficial transcripts from every university and college attended since graduation from high school.
This includes community college work that was transferred. Please attach them under Additional Documents.
Official transcripts will be required only once admission had been offered and accepted.
3 letters of recommendation
Must be submitted electronically only through the application portal. At least one from a Professor. Recommendation letters should be from faculty or mentors who have direct knowledge of your abilities, especially any research experience.
International Applicants
International Student Confidential Financial Statement (only if required by questions on application)
Official TOEFL score reported to UCR from ETS (scores no older than 2 years from the time you plan to enter UCR)
