Evolution, Ecology & Organismal Biology

Applying to the Program

Thank you for your interest in the UCR EEOB Graduate Program!

Admissions requirements include a B.A. or B.S. degree in Biology or a related discipline. Majors in other scientific fields are acceptable if basic preparation in biology, chemistry (organic and inorganic), physics, and mathematics are deemed adequate. This should include calculus, inorganic and organic chemistry, and physics.

Prospective graduate students should contact faculty members with interests similar to their own early in the application process. Admission is unlikely without identification of, and prior communication with, a faculty member participating in the EEOB graduate program who can act as a prospective major advisor.

The Program welcomes early applications. Occasionally, EEOB will consider Ph.D. applications as late as April, but there is a high probability that the limited number of openings will have been filled by that time.
